Indian Brotherhood of Magicians (Regd.) formation year 1982 - 2007 JADU UTSAV
Two days of magic conference-cum-jadu utsav held on 8-9 September, 2007 in New Delhi.
This jadu utsav was a historical event because first time besides INDIAN MAGICIANS, FOREIGN MAGICIANS also participated making it an international magic conference.
170 Magicians participants including top magicians of India fame like , Maneka Sarcar (queen of magi ) d/o Magician P.C. Sarcar jr. (kolkata) , Magician O.P. Sharma (kanpur), Magician Swami Sarcar (Gwalior), Magician Ashok Kharbanda , Magician Karuna Shankar, Magician Hare Krishna , Magician K.C. Pandey, Magician Ashok Bhandari , Magician Rahul Kharbanda , Magician Kuldeep (Delhi) , Magician Chand Pasha , Magician Marri Ramesh (Hyderabad) , Magician Comedian M. Yona (Tamilnadu) , Magician Rana Yadav (Jaipur) , Magician Sagar (Punjab) to name a few. Magicians from other countries were Bebel , Hugus Protat , dorothea , Rapheal , Valentine , clement (France) & Rick Allen (USA).
The conference was to be inaugurated by shree J.P. Aggarwal , President – member of parliament and shri Ashok Kharbanda , patron IBM . Shri .J.P.Aggarwal was elected as President ,
Delhi pradesh congress committee a day before the convetion . when we went to pick shri J.P. Aggarwal at his residence , there were thousands of members of congress committee outside his residence to cheer him up and shri Agarwal promised to attend our conference next day.The conference was inaugurated by lighting lamp and was started with street magic show by Chand Pasha , which was appreciated by all the magicians especially by foreign magician .The conference was compared by magician Sumit Kharbanda , secretary IBM and Miss Monica in magical way.
On this occasion , jadu shiromani award ceremony was also inaugurated . Some famous magicians , from India and abroad , were invited on the dias and were honored with shawl , garlands , jadu shiromani logo and memento while describing about their activities and achievements. These magicians are; magician O.P. Sharma (kanpur) , magician Maneka Sarcar (kolkata), magician Swami Sarcar (gwalior) , magician N.A. Pasha (bijnor), magician Rapheal (France).
It was a unanimous decision of all the magicians to present lifetime jadu shiromani award to magician Ashok Kharbanda , patron of the society and magic community for the last 25 years . The society was formed in the year 1982 and the first magic conference by the society was also solemnized in the same year in Delhi.
There was a big standing glass on the one side of dias . To memorize the occasion , magician Ashok Kharbanda wrote 1982 on a plain paper and invited magicians Sumit Kharbanda , Rahul Kharbanda , Maneka Sarcar, Rick Allen on the stage and threw the paper on glass . suddenly , a bomblasting sound broke the silence of the hall and people present there felt something like an earthquake and everyone was to pleased to see “ JADU UTSAV 2007 – 25 YEARS CELEBRATION ” behind the glass . Everybody stood up and started clapping. Magicians appreciated this new style of this journey of 25 years in just two minutes.
A number of TV channels and newspaper agencies were present to cover the historical show and were also interviewing few magicians outside the hall. Magicians kept on surroundings the TV channel reporters to record their performance and to air it on TV channels. Some of the reporters got upset and the situation was then controlled by Sumit Kharbanda to deteriorate further.
In this conference, a souvenir was also inaugurated by magicians Karuna Sarkar (Delhi) , Rick Allen (USA) , Maneka Sarkar (Kolkata) and Ashok Kharbanda. All and one appreciated this souvenir which was got published in a very short span of time. Out of 170 delegates participated in the conference , photographs and names of 134 were duly published in the souvenir of those delegation fees and photographs were received well in time . The photographs and names of remaining delegates could not be included in the souvenir as their photographs and delegation fees were received later on.
Lunch was organized from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. , which was well catered and everyone enjoyed it. The magicians visited Delhi from other states and abroad were lodged in reputed hotels / dharamshalas.
The conference was restarted at 2:30 pm with dealer demonstration session in which magician H.G. Ley , devanand , Ashok Bhandari , Santosh Adwani , Sudhir Gautam etc. participated. Thereafter , lecture-cum-demonstration started . in this session , magicians Karuna Shankar of Delhi , Chand Pasha of Hyderabad and Hugus Protat of France explained different type of levitation.
Between 5:00 to 6:30 pm , tea/snacks were provided and after that, street magic session was started. Street magic was performed by Chand Pasha, & Hussain.
At 7:00 pm , junior magicians competition was organized in which number of magicians took part.
Thereafter, Gala show was started in which magicians M.Yona from Tamilnadu, and Clement, Hugus Protat etc. from Europe gave their best performances.
Next day on 9th September 2007 , discussion-cum-interaction session was inaugurated at 10:30 am . The participants deliberated on three main issues in the session viz. Magic to be declared as FINE ART ; entertainment tax should be exempted on magic all over India and problems being faced by magicians in their respective states. Magicians participants in discussion-cum-interaction session were Rana Yadav (jaipur), Swami Sarkar (Gwalior), R.N.Narolia (Chakshu), Neelkhant (Jaipur), V.Samrat (Meerut), Ashok Bhandari Kuldeep, Krishan Gopal, Mahinder Budhiraja (Delhi), M.R.Giri (Agra).
It was unanimously passed that for all these problems, a charter of demand be submitted to the government. All the magicians were advised to send such letters to cultural ministry.
A special award and honour was given to magicians, who participated in Delhi ’s first conference organized by IBM in year 1982 . All the participants magicians of jadu utsav-2007 were given certificate by calling them on stage.
Thereafter, discussion on magic trust was held in which it was decided that a All India Magic Trust should be formed. Magician Ashok Kharbanda , patron of the society declared on this occasion to pay Rs.1 lakh in the said trust.
At
2:30 pm, lecture-cum-demonstration session was started. Proffesor M. Raj, Banglore shared his magical experience of strings and rings which was much liked by delegates. Magician Rapheal Novaroo (France) gave lecture on difference of Indian and European Magic. Magician H.G.Ley (Hyderabad) gave lecture on how to market corporate shows. Magicians Ashok Bhandari (Delhi) helped participants on ‘How to perform magic outside India’.
After this session, senior Magicians competition was held in which number of magicians participated namely; Wilson (Haryana), M.P.Ansari (Meerut), Anjan (Delhi), S.K.Sharma (Ambala), Ashoka Roy (Gujrat), Kamal (Surat) etc.
